Help & Support

GETTING STARTED

What is Orbit?

Orbit is a small-group video journal for close friends. Everyone in an orbit records a short clip roughly once an hour; at the end of the day Orbit compiles everyone's clips into one video so you can watch what your friends were up to, hour by hour.

How do I create or join an orbit?

From the home tab, tap "Create Orbit" to start a new one, or ask a friend for their 6-character invite code and enter it to join theirs. Orbits hold up to 12 members.

RECORDING CLIPS

How long is a clip, and how often do I record?

Each clip is about 2.5 seconds. You'll get a reminder roughly once an hour — the day resets at 4am, so you can capture up to 24 clips a day.

Why does the app tell me to turn my phone sideways?

Clips are laid out in a wide, landscape-shaped tile in the compiled video. Recording with your phone turned sideways means your clip fills that tile properly instead of getting cropped.

The camera isn't working — what do I do?

If your device's camera is unavailable (or on the iOS Simulator), Orbit automatically offers a "Pick from library" option so you can choose a video instead.

WATCHING & SHARING

How do I watch my orbit's day?

Open an orbit and tap into a day's compilation. Scroll vertically to see every member's clip for the current hour, and use the bar at the bottom to jump between hours.

Can I share a day outside the app?

Yes — tap the share icon at the top of a day's playback screen to export and share the whole compiled video as one file.
